During the first semester of my senior year at UVM, I was able to take the intermediate level of drawing because I took the beginner level during my freshman year. For our first assigment, we were tasked to work with transparency. This drawing I created is composed of three different drawings layered on top of each other to create the composition I wanted.
The bottom drawing is the butterfly wings and angel halos. This layer is made with Prismacolor pencils on drawing paper. The middle drawing is the three horses. This drawing is made with black India ink on semi-transparent Vellum and is based on a painting I once saw at an antique store and absolutely loved. The top drawing is the mermaid and is made with ink pens on an Acetate sheet. The mermaid is based on the painting, The Penitent Magdalene, by Domenico Tintoretto in the Capitoline Museum in Rome.
